I’m an arts industry guest speaker who is passionate about sharing honest, practical insight into the creative sector — the kind of knowledge I wish I’d had when starting out. As an experienced creative industries speaker, I regularly deliver talks for universities and organisations, connecting with students and emerging creatives to explore careers in the arts and build confidence in navigating the industry.
I’ve spoken at and delivered workshops, and judged end of year degree shows at universities including:
- University of Manchester
- Manchester Metropolitan University
- University of Leeds
- University of Salford
- Bradford College
I’ve worked with organisations and I’ve featured on:
- Manchester Wire
- Bradford Producing Hub
- BBC Radio Manchester
- BCB Radio
- That’s Manchester TV
- Manchester Confidential
- I Love Manchester

My sessions combine real-world experience — from running an independent gallery and arts business to leading programmes at South Square Centre — with clear, actionable advice and industry insights from the arts sector. As a guest lecturer for creative industries programmes, I focus on making the art world more transparent, accessible, and achievable.
Each talk can be tailored for universities, cultural organisations, or professional groups, covering topics such as creative career pathways, building your profile, curating your own opportunities, navigating freelance work, and developing a sustainable career in the arts.
‘I attended the talk carried out by yourself and Michael Richmond yesterday and found it extremely engaging. Your pathway and interests in particular were really interesting to me.’
– University of Leeds student
‘I heard from colleagues they had lots of positive verbal and written feedback from students saying how much they valued your talk. Thanks so much for coming to speak to our students – it’s deeply appreciated.’
